Happy Summer!

Greetings, Rosebank families! It has been one week since the last day of school. I hope everyone is enjoying their vacation so far! Thank you for all the food items and supplies for our party the last week. Special thanks again to Evan’s brother for providing pizza and juices. We finished our novel The Lightning Thief but due to technical difficulties, sadly, were not able to view it on DVD. We had a great time anyway, playing with our friends, eating, listening and dancing to radio music.

Just a couple of reminders:

Report Card – Your child should have shown you their report card. If not, they should have it in their backpack/folder. If your child was absent, you should have received the report card in the mail to your address on file.

Summer Slide – As you know, your child has made good progress in 4th grade. Don’t let them succumb to the Summer Slide! That’s when they lose all the learning they have gained this year. Keep them reading, writing, and practicing math over break. Below are some ways to help them keep reading skills sharp and ready for 5th grade!

Summer Achieve Contest – Keep working on articles on Achieve3000! Check the website for the contest details and prizes!

San Diego County Fair Reading Log – Your child can gain free entry into the fair! Just submit the reading log with 10 books you’ve read this school year. Have fun at the fair!

Chula Vista Public Library Summer Reading Program –  sign up and earn prizes all summer! They also have some cool shows and activities for June and July.

Chula Vista Recreation Center – lots of classes and activities to sign up for. Stay active, Panthers!

Free Lunch for Kids Summer – check out this link for free lunch for kids all summer long.

First day of school will be Wed. July 19, 2017.

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you for a wonderful year. I’ve enjoyed working with your families this year. Thank you for the support you have given me. I will miss each and everyone of you students and wish you the best in 5th grade and beyond. Please email me to keep in touch. Since I am moving schools, I would love to hear what’s going on, what’s new with your family, any important events in your lives and about your accomplishments! Stay awesome, Panthers! Love, Mrs. King 😊
