Greetings, Rosebank families! I hope your weekend was awesome! Thank you to parents who donated empty water bottles for recycling on Earth Day last Friday. Also, congratulations to our Red Carpet winners: Salamasina, Xanny, David, Jesus M., Jordan, and Emonie! They were recognized at the assembly last Friday.

Weekend Homework – Math Practice Sheet, Read 45 min and Log (students below 63 AR points), bring back Weekly Progress Report signed and AR report initialed. Also, if your child will be using their headphones/earbuds for CAASPP, please have them bring to school this week and if possible, leave at school so they will be have them for testing.

Cabrillo Field Trip – is this Wed. April 27 from 9:00-1:30. Please make sure your child brings snacks, lunch, and water only please. Please do NOT send them with sugary drinks like soda, Gatorade or Powerade. They may bring a little backpack, not their big school backpack. Also, students may want to wear a hat, shades, layers of clothing and definitely walking shoes. We will be by the water and up on a hill, it may get chilly or it may be hot! Please leave electronic devices, phones, tablets, and money at home.

Parent Chaperones – Please be at school by 9:00 if you are riding the bus. If you are driving, I will send home directions and your waiver this week to show at the gate.

Permission Slips – If your child has not returned their permission slip and $8 bus cost donation, please have them do so immediately. It was due this past Friday! No checks or coins please. I will email parents with reminders.

Egg Drop -4th grade will be conducting their Egg Drop Experiments this Friday April 29 at 9 AM. Parents are welcome to attend. It will be in the hallway in front of our classrooms. We are so excited to see how their projects have turned out!

Inquire at the office for more information on tickets or photos.

AR Cut-Off – The AR assembly to award students will be in late May. The cut-off for points will be May 13. Students who have reached 60 points by this date will receive books as awards. Please encourage your child to read, read, read, and take tests at school if they are below 60.

CAASPP Tests Start Next Week – 4th grade will be participating in the state CAASPP tests the week of May 2-6. We are working hard to prepare in class. Here are a few important reminders for testing week:

  • Have your child eat a healthy breakfast at home or at school everyday. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria from 8:20-8:35. Students will NOT have time to get 2nd Chance Breakfast during testing week. They may bring their own snack or eat the light snack the school may provide. We will only have a 10-minute snack and stretch break in the middle of morning tests.
  • Please schedule all appointments during other weeks, not May 2-6. Or if you must schedule an appointment, please make it for the afternoon. Thank you!
  • I recommend that students bring their own headphones/earbuds for the tests. Many students complain that the headphones at school hurt their heads/ears. Please have the students bring their headphones/earbuds to class NOW so they can practice using them BEFORE testing week. Also, some brands don’t plug in or work very well with our Yoga Lenovo laptops, so students need to bring it in to try it. Thank you so much!
  • Donations for snacks during testing would be greatly appreciated. Snacks like granola bars, applesauce cups with spoons, crackers, rice cakes, small bananas, apples, tangerines, etc. would be perfect. Nothing sugary (refined sugar) please. Small water bottles would also be good. We have 30 students in our class. A HUGE, HUGE thank you for any donations you can send.

Thank you, Panthers, for being you! Have a fabulous week! Please email me with any questions. ~ Mrs. King 🙂
