Week 13: It’s December!

December3

Greetings, Rosebank Panthers! I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving break and were able to spend some quality time together.  It was great for me to be with my family!  School resumes Mon. Dec. 1 and will be regular schedule.  Students should bring back their signed Weekly Progress Report and AR pink report, as well as their optional Thanksgiving Packet if assignments were completed.  Also, students should be prepared to take AR tests tomorrow!

Library Day – Tuesdays at 11:30. Please make sure your child brings back their library books on every Tuesday!

Math Drills – It is so important for students to know their math facts! We will continue to do a 5-minute math drill everyday.  This week we will complete x3’s, x4’s, x6’s, and x7’s.  Students will bring home their corrected drills daily for you to sign.  Please sign at the top near their score and return to school the next day. If students are coming home with scores below 80%, please have them practice the facts they are having trouble with.  They can do this by writing out their facts on paper and/or going to IXL.com online to 3rd grade Multiplication.  When we finish multiplication drills, we will move on to division drills.

Reader’s Theatre – The students are practicing reading fluently and with expression by participating in Reader’s Theatre this quarter.  Performances of three plays: The Farmer, Son, and the Donkey, Johnny Appleseed, and Demeter and Persephone will be on Wed. Dec. 18 at 2:00 p.m. Please save the date to attend!

Traffic Patterns – The new traffic patterns that were established in Oct. have been a success. Thank you for your cooperation, parents! Phase 2 will begin in Jan. Basically, there will be no more pickups in the parking lot by the kindergarten playground. Please see upcoming flyers from school for more details.

Epic Fun Run – The obstacle course event will occur Fri. Dec. 19.  All pledge envelopes are due Fri. Dec. 12.  There’s still time to create your easy website and collect pledges/donations from family and friends to help raise money for our school.  Thank you for your support.

December Learnings:

  • Math – Multiplication/Division, Word Problems
  • Writing – Opinion Writing
  • Reading – Poetry/Plays, Reader’s Theatre
  • Social Studies – California Explorers, Missions
  • Science – Energy in Ecosystems
  • PE – Folk Dancing, Running

Have a wonderful week, Panther friends! ~ Mrs. King 🙂

    • Thank you, Ms. Castaneda. I’ve updated the homework page to reflect assignments for this weekend. Just have Mya read 35 min and work on Achieve 20 min. She can have you sign her Weekly Reports when she brings them home Monday. Thank you. Have a nice weekend!
