Greetings, Rosebank families! Can you believe we’ve finished the first quarter of school? Amazing how time flies when you’re having fun!  I wanted to thank all parents for making it to conferences.  100% is awesome!  Your involvement makes such a difference in your child’s education! Thank you.

Please continue your valued help at home this quarter by ensuring your child does their Homefun.  Have your child work on Achieve website for at least 20 min at day, practice their multiplication/division facts daily, and read their AR books.  This quarter the reading requirement will bump up to 35 minutes daily AR reading.  Thank you for your encouragement and monitoring at home!

Reminder that there is no school this Tues Nov. 11 for Veteran’s Day.  Have fun and enjoy Legoland, those of you who are going! We do have school tomorrow Monday Nov. 10.  🙂

Canned Food Drive – Rosebank is collecting bags of beans for the less fortunate…or anything in your cupboard you can donate.  Please send to school and put in our classroom box.  Thank you for your generosity!

Epic Fun Run Obstacle Course – will occur Fri. Nov. 21.   The deadline for setting up webpages has been extended to Wed. Nov. 12. Please see the flyer sent home with your child Friday. If you haven’t set up your website, please fill out the form and send back to school Mon or Wed.  Your website will be set up for you! Remember that this website will only be sent via email to friends/family that you designate on the form, asking for pledges for your child. Thank you for your support! It’s going to be a fun event!

Living Coast Field Trip – Thurs. Nov. 20. Please return signed permission slip and $3 for your child.  Thank you!

California Maps – Thank you to parents who sent dough with your child last Mon. The dough maps project was a great success and awesome learning experience.  The students didn’t need much help from me, I just gave them the materials and the time… and moved out of their way! Even students who didn’t bring dough had the chance to work with friends and participate in the learning.  So much fun!

Handwashing – a couple of weeks ago, Nurse Rose came to our class and did a presentation on Handwashing and other general health habits.  Please ask your child to demonstrate the proper way to wash their hands, cover their cough/sneeze, and why.  A must for cold/flu season!

Pen Pals – We are Pen Pals with a 4th grade class at Feaster Charter School in west Chula Vista. Last week, we received the first letter and are now writing back.  We will continue writing back and forth all year and will have an opportunity to meet our pen pals at the end of the year.  It’s so exciting when we receive their letters!

Reading Buddies – We are Reading Buddies with Mr. Cabrera’s second grade class at school.  We just had our introductions last Friday and began reading.  We will be meeting once a month for 30 minutes for the rest of the year.  It feels good to help others and make new friends!

Reader’s Theatre – This quarter, our reading groups will focus on Reader’s Theatre plays.  We will practice reading with expression and fluency for the next several weeks and then invite you to school to watch our performances! Stay tuned…

AGE – Adolescent Growth Education for Girls will be next Mon. Nov. 17 in the afternoon.  A letter was sent home a few weeks ago.  Only if you do NOT wish for your daughter to participate in this lesson, please return permission slip to school.  Contact me with any questions.

Substitute – I will be out of the classroom Thursday afternoon for BTSA mentoring and Friday as well. Mrs. Kawamoto will be my sub again, so the students are in good hands! Please remind your child to showcase Rosebank Core Values (Caring, Honesty, Perseverance, Respect, and Responsibility) especially when I’m absent.

Happy birthdays to Luis 11/8, Mrs. King 11/10, and Alan 11/13! Have a fabulous week, Panthers! ~ Mrs. King 🙂
