Greetings, Rosebank families! I hope your weekend is off to a great start. We had a great week with Bus Evacuation Drill Tuesday, Dr. Escobedo visit Wednesday and school pictures Thursday. We also got all our CELDT testing done! Woo-hoo. Looking forward to another busy and fun week.
Welcome Back Luau – Today from 3:00-5:00 at Rosebank! Come enjoy games, music, and food for purchase. Alooooooha!
Mission Trails Field Trip – will be this Thursday Sept 1. Thank you for returning the permission slip and bus donation on time! I really appreciate it because it helps me stay organized! We are going to have a great time hiking and learning about the Native Americans and chaparral ecosystem. Thank you in advance to the six parent chaperones who signed up. They are Ms. Magana (Adam), Ms. Miller (Marco), Ms. Gomez (Kassandra), Mr. Rodriguez (Alejandra), Ms. Gutierrez (Alexa), and Ms. Alvarez (Arlez). Parents who will be riding or following the bus, please be at school by 9 am to load. So excited for our trip!
Conferences – To see the latest updated schedule, please click on Sept Conference Schedule above. Most parents have signed up, thank you! Please remember to bring your child with you to the conference and please remember minimum days start Thurs. Sept. 8.
Weekend Homework – Read AR book 30 min and write a Reading Log summary. Also, get your Weekly Reports signed. Parents, please ask for this from them. Also, please keep all pages attached. A few students try to be sneaky and rip out their behavior or homework slips. Thank you!
Behavior Slips – Many students received slips this week. We are now in our 6th week of school. Please speak with your child about school/classroom rules and Core Values. When they receive a slip, I have already given them at least one fair warning or reminder. If you have any questions or need more information about a behavior slip, please feel free to email me. Thank you for your support at home.
Earbuds/Headphones – We are asking students to bring and keep a set of earbuds/headphones at school for all our work on computer. Many students complain that the headphones we have at school hurt their ears. Students will be more comfortable and able to do their best when they can use their own personal earbuds/headphones. Please remember to label and send in a baggy. Thank you for your help with this!
AR 12 Point Club – WOW! Many students have already reached or exceeded the 12-point goal for Accelerated Reader this quarter! Congratulations to Arath (16 pts), Sofia (21 pts), Isaac (17 pts), Jacob (13 pts), Shawn (12 pts), Kassandra (17 pts), Alejandra (13 pts), Alexa (13 pts) and Molly (14 pts)! These points were as of Friday morning before school. Remember that students with 12 points or more will be invited to attend the AR Electronics Party on Sept. 9. Students still have about two more weeks to reach the goal! We have been doing this for 4 weeks now, so they should be at 8 points as of yesterday (2 points per week). Keep on reading and taking AR tests at school daily. You can do it, Panthers!
Classroom Dojo – If you haven’t connected yet, please do so. I will send another email reminder link. Dojo is another way you can see how your child is doing in school and also communicate with me. Sign up today!
Multiplication Facts – Students who do not have all their basic multiplication facts (below 80 on facts drill), please practice your facts everyday at home. Here are some ways to practice: flash cards, skip-counting out loud, writing out the multiples, IXL standards 4th grade D1, D2, D3, D4, memorizing, parents quizzing verbally. It is okay for your child to use a multiplication table, but hopefully they will wean off in time after practicing in other ways. We will continue to practice facts at school. Here is one video to show your child to learn those difficult 9’s:
Parents, thank you for all your help at home. Remember that your child is learning new things and doing their best. Remind them to keep a growth mindset: failures are part of success, just keep at it! Let me know how I can help. Email me with any questions. Have a wonderful weekend, Panthers! Also, we wish our friend Sofia farewell and good luck at her new school! You will be missed. See you Monday, Panthers! ~ Warmly, Mrs. King 🙂
