Back to School Night is Thurs Aug 4!

Greetings, Rosebank families! We are completing our 2nd week of school. The class is getting into the routines and procedures nicely. They are starting to work hard and find their focus. Thank you for all your help at home.

Attendance – Our class had 100% attendance our first week of school. This week, not so great. Let’s keep our attendance high; try to be at school everyday on time, unless of course your child is ill. We can earn extra recess if we are top class!

Back to School Night – Thursday Aug. 4 from 5:00-7:00. The agenda is as follows: 5:00-6:00 Refreshments and information booths out near the playground, 6:00-6:30 Principal’s Presentation in the auditorium, 6:30-7:00 Teacher Presentations in the classroom. If you have more than one child at Rosebank, please try to have another parent/adult family member attend so you can each visit a presentation. Student supervision will be provided on the playground and kinder playground as well. Students in my class whose parents attend my presentation will receive a No-Homework Pass to use this quarter. I will also have September conference sign ups during Back to School Night. Hope to see everyone there!

Homework Planner – Your initials are required on the Homework Planner at least one night during the week of Mon-Thurs. I will verify planners on Fridays. Please continue to check in with your child on their assignments regularly to help them be responsible.

Homework – The class is off to a great start with their homework. I’ve been speaking with them everyday and showing examples of quality homework turned in. No pen on homework please. We may use pen at writing time in class and red pen for correcting our work during class, but pencil only on homework. Thank you for your help reinforcing this!

Weekly Report – Your child has their Weekly Report today. Please review and sign and have them bring back Mon. This is their Weekend Homework along with 30 minute Reading (no Log). Their little AR report is attached. You should see the books they have read and taken tests on this week. Tests taken today (Friday) are not included. Great job to those who started taking/passing AR tests this week! Next week, students will be required to earn at least 2 points in AR before Friday to earn their Fun Friday time. The goal is to have at least 12 points by Sept. 9 when we will have our AR Electronics Party for those who reach or exceed the goal. Read, Panthers, read!

STAR Test – Your child has taken their STAR test. Please see the results sent home attached to the Weekly Report and please sign the very bottom next to my name. They will check out books from our school library according to their level/color for the Accelerated Reader Program. For more information, click on the Accelerated Reader link above. Library will start in a couple of weeks. AR books can be found in the Chula Vista Public Library. If you’re not sure if a book is AR, you can check on AR Bookfinder on the Rosebank Portal page (see sidebar).

4th Grade Swim – We’ll be going Aug 8-19 everyday from 9:30-11:00 to Parkway Pool for swim lessons. Packet was sent home today. Please complete and return the permission slip and registration pages right away next week. If your child needs a swimsuit, please complete the application that was attached. Correction on the letter: students may not wear a T-shirt over their clothing but may wear a rash guard if needed. Please email me if you have any questions.

Class Dojo – If you haven’t signed up for Class Dojo, please do so. I will use Dojo as another way to communicate your child’s behavior digitally. You will receive weekly updates through email/text at the end of the week or you may check in anytime. Although I prefer email, you may message me through Class Dojo. A letter was sent home with your individual code for signing up. Please email me if you need another letter.

Classroom Donations – Thank you to those of you who have donated supplies for the classroom! We really appreciate the tissues and supplies. If you are going to the store this weekend, something we are always in need of is the large hand sanitizer gel. Thank you for any donations you can send!

The class is very sweet, working hard, and I am enjoying getting to know them everyday. I hope they are enjoying school so far. Thank you for all your help at home, parents. Have a great week, Panthers! See you Thursday for Back to School Night. ~ Warmly, Mrs. King 🙂
