Welcome to a New School Year 16-17!

Greetings, Rosebank families! I hope you had a nice, relaxing summer break and are looking forward to a wonderful school year, like I am! Fourth grade is an awesome year. Your child will have many important learnings and have fun!

We have a few changes…the main one being our new principal, Mr. Neil MacGaffey! We welcome Mr. MacGaffey from Discovery Charter School where he was the assistant principal. We also said good-bye to Mrs. Stillie over the summer (she transferred to Casillas with Mr. Vickers) and welcome to Mr. Parayno for third grade. The Rosebank Team is excited to be working with all of you this year!

Attendance – Rosebank ranked 35th out of 46 schools at the end of last year with attendance. You can bet that this year attendance will be a TOP priority! Please make every effort to get to school on time. Breakfast opens at 8:10 or students may walk the track on the playground when they come to school. Students should be at school by 8:30 at the latest, so instruction can begin right at 8:45. Another change is at 8:40 students will walk themselves to class. Teachers will wait at the classroom doors for them. If students are not at their classroom door at 8:45, they will be marked tardy. Thank you for your help with attendance!

Independent Study Contracts – will be issued for family emergencies only, not for vacation. Please see the office if you need one.

Homework This Week – Please review the papers that were sent home yesterday with your child. Students have until Monday to return paperwork. If you need longer than Monday, please email me at arlene.king@cvesd.org. Remember that your child will receive classroom payment and points for homework responsibility. Thank you for your support and prompt attention.

Changes – There are a few changes to my daily schedule. I will send a new revised schedule home or you may look here. Also, students may not bring balls from home anymore to play with at school. Equipment is now supplied for recesses at the playground. Thank you for your help in this matter.
