Greetings, Rosebank families! I hope you had a nice weekend and enjoyed the rainy weather. I apologize for the delay in my post.
Speech – Note cards are due today, Monday. Our 4th grade Speak-Off is this coming Thurs. Feb. 4. Please take this week Mon-Wed evening to rehearse and also time your speech. Speeches need to be between 3-5 minutes long. Remember to use pauses to make your speech more effective. One 4th grader from each class will be selected to compete in the Rosebank School Speak-off on Wed. Feb. 10 at 1:45. Good luck, Panthers!
Speech Contest – Parents have been asking if students need to do their speech or if it’s a contest. It is a contest held every year by the district. Teachers have found in the past that if we didn’t assign it as an assignment, no one would participate or only very few students would participate. We assign it because we have 4th grade standards that focus on speaking and presentation skills as well as writing. Public speaking is an important and necessary skill for the future. Students should do their best, not to win, but to learn and develop this valuable skill. Thank you parents for all your support at home.
Red Carpet Assembly – Please join me in congratulating our Red Carpet winners this time around: Agustin and Esmeralda for Outstanding Citizenship, Omar and Ava for Academic Improvement/Effort, and Julianna, Ryleigh, and Lucia for All-Around Academic Excellence. They will be honored this Friday Feb. 5 at 9:00 in the Multipurpose Room. Awesome job, Panthers!
Presidents’ Holidays – We will have no school next Friday Feb. 12 and Mon. Feb. 15 in honor of Presidents Washington and Lincoln. Hooray for a 4-day weekend!
Symphony Trip – will be Thurs. Feb. 18. Please return signed permission slip and $5 cost donation by next Wed. Feb. 10. Please, no checks or coins. Thank you!
Valentine’s Friendship Card Exchange – will be next Thurs. Feb. 11. Students may exchange Valentine cards with their classmates at the end of the day. A list will be sent home this week. Spread the love!
