Week 8: Welcome, September!

Greetings, Rosebank families! I hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend.

Conferences/Minimum Day – begin Thursday 9/10 and will continue until next Thurs. 9/17. Fourth graders will be dismissed at 1:45. Please see the updated Conference Schedule.  I also sent home reminder slips last Friday with your child.  Please call or email me right away if you cannot make it, and we will reschedule. Please have your child attend the conference with you. Also, conferences will be very short; we’ll go over beginning levels and any concerns. If you have any major concerns, please email me now at arlene.king@cvesd.org before the conference. Thank you for being courteous and keeping with the 15-minute time-blocks. I’m looking forward to seeing you all!

Fall Break – will be Sept. 21-Oct. 5. School resumes Tues. Oct. 6. A short packet may be assigned for reading and math practice.  9 more school days! Woo-hoo!

California Dough Maps – We have been learning about the California regions and will be making dough maps of our Golden State next week as our Social Studies project. Please help your child prepare the dough on Sunday and bring to school on Monday, Sept. 14. Here are the instructions: http://www.sjusd.org/williams/downloads/4th_Gr_CA_Relief_Map.pdf.  Donations of baggies of prepared dough for other students would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your help at home! Hands-on projects are the best!

AR/Electronics Party – this Friday 9/11. The students have worked hard in Reading and will be rewarded with a party for those who have made the 13 point goal. Permission slips to bring devices will be sent home this week. Praise your child for a job well done. If your child is close (you can see on the yellow AR report), please encourage them to reach their goal by reading extra books this week and taking the accompanying tests. Panthers, you rock!

Recycling – Rosebank School is doing great recycling water bottles.  Please continue to bring your recyclables on Fridays straight to the PTA Room 808 so your child gets the credit and can be entered in for a prize. Helping the environment feels so good!
