Week 30: Getting Ready for CAASPP

Greetings, families! April is flying by so fast. Whew! Are you having fun?

Our field trip last week to the Cabrillo tide pools was awesome.  Even though the tide was high, we were able to walk near the tide pools and even climb on the rocks by the huge waves.  Our tour guide, Alex, did a great job talking to us about the tides and living creatures.  We also enjoyed hiking on the trails, looking at the beautiful coastal views, and walking to the monument and lighthouse. Thank you to our wonderful parent chaperones: Ms. Judal, Ms. Castaneda, Mrs. Chidikon, Mrs. Estrada, Mrs. Guerrero, Ms. Gonzalez, Ms. Perfecto, and Mr. Vera.  You were great troopers and helped keep the class focused! 🙂 Parent chaperones rock!!

Zoo Trip – Our zoo trip was supposed to be next week.  Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflict, it may be postponed to May or June.  I will keep you posted.

Egg Drop – We are so excited to conduct our experiment this Friday April 24!  Thank you so much, parents, for all your supply donations. 🙂  Last Friday we began constructing our crafts, thinking about slowing down the descent and lessening the impact, factoring in wind and weight. We will have some time Thursday afternoon to finish up our construction and be ready for Friday morning’s egg drop!  Can’t wait!

Father-Daughter Dance – will be this Friday April 24 from 6:30-8:30. Mother-Son Dance will be Sat. April 25 from 6:30-8:30. It will be “A Night in Neverland.”  Calling all fairies, Indian princesses, pirates, and Lost Boys!  Costumes are welcome, though not required.  $10 presale, $15 at the door, includes one adult and up to two children.  Dance the night away with your child while supporting Rosebank School.  It’s going to be wonderful! 🙂

CAASPP Testing – will be the week of May 4-8 in the mornings.  Please make sure your child comes to school everyday on time, unless of course, they are sick.  Please make any appointments in the afternoons or a different week.  Thank you for your cooperation.  The class continues to practice the interim tests in the lab.  Please have your child bring their own earbuds/headphones everyday if they have it.  We look forward to doing our very best and showcasing all that we’ve learned this year.

Safety Patrol – Great news! Fourth graders now have the chance to become part of the esteemed Rosebank Safety Patrol!  Information and applications were sent home today.  If your child is interested, please review the information together and help them submit their application by this Friday April 24.  Sorry, no late applications will be accepted. Interview panels will be conducted next week during recess.  New patrol members will be announced next Friday May 1. Wishing all the candidates the best of luck — break a leg! 🙂

Have a great week! Thank you again for all your help at home. I really appreciate your support. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me.  ~ Gratefully, Mrs. King 🙂
