Greetings, families! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Last week, we worked hard and earned Fun Friday again. We enjoy being able to play games or choose our own activities at the end of the week. We also had Career Day yesterday. It was great to see all the different careers and have students share about their futures. I wish I had remembered to take a picture!
Red Carpet Awards – Congratulations to our Red Carpet Award Recipients this quarter: Christian for Outstanding Citizenship, Ricardo for Outstanding Citizenship, Abel for Outstanding Academic Effort, Elly for Excellence in Reading and Writing, Mya for All Around Excellence. We will have one more Red Carpet Assembly at the end of the year.
California History Project – Report draft is due this Wed. March 11. Please help your child write 3 or more paragraphs about their topic, using their research notes. There should be an Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. Also, a Sketch of what their Visual Project will look like is due by this Fri. March 13.
Long Division Retest – will grade them and send home on Monday. Students worked very hard to improve!
Project Pie Fundraiser – This coming Tues. March 10 from 5:00-8:00, stop by Project Pie pizza place at the Chula Vista Mall for dinner. 40% of the proceeds will go back to our school! If you haven’t been, it’s like a Subway but with pizza. Custom-made pizza — choose your toppings! Hope to see all of you there!
Student-Led Conferences – March 23-26. Please see the Conference Schedule and sign up if you haven’t done so. I sent another copy of the sign-up sheet (yellow) last week or you may email me at arlene.king@cvesd.org. I also sent home pink confirmation slips to those who’ve signed up. Remember that your child will be leading the conference. Looking forward to seeing parents again!
AR Electronics Party – will be this Fri. March 13. Eligible students who’ve reached or surpassed their goals will receive their invitation/permission slip either Mon. or Tues. Hooray! Please encourage your child to reach their AR goals by Friday!
Spring Break – March 30-April 3. Students return Mon. April 6. Since it’s only a week, I’m not sure I want to assign any packets, homework or projects. Parents, what do you think? Please take my poll below. Students who are reading this, please ask your parents and submit their response. Thank you!
Please continue to have your child work on Achieve3000 and IXL everyday. Students may also work on CAASPP practice problems at www.caaspp.org to prepare for end-of-year tests. Thank you for your support at home.
Happy birthday to Lucas!
