Greetings, 502 families! Can you believe it’s already Third Quarter?? I am so proud of the class’ improvements in reading and math this past quarter. They have certainly worked hard and read a lot of minutes and Achieve articles. Thank you all for your support and guidance at home. Keep up the good work, Panthers!
Report Cards – Your child received their report card on Friday. Hopefully they have already given it to you. If not, please be sure to ask them for it. Included in the report card is their AR report for 2nd quarter only. The points will not show their total for the year, only for the quarter. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Speech Homework – Some resources and the checklist/timeline for the Speech Project were also sent home Friday. Please help your child choose a topic this weekend and initial the checklist (due Mon 1/26). The Research page is meant to help as a guideline. Please help your child begin their research online or at the library. Please feel free to modify the Research Page to best fit your child’s topic. You may turn in the Research Page on Monday or if you need more time, by Wed 1/28. Thank you for helping your child with their research. I am available at lunch recess and Tues/Thurs after school next week for further assistance.
Gold Rush Day – 4th grade will begin learning about the Gold Rush this week: how it all began, the routes to the Gold Rush, the life of a miner and merchant, the impact on California, etc. We will have Gold Rush Day on Thurs. Feb. 12 as a culminating activity with various activities and even a miner breakfast. Just to make it fun, we encourage your child to come dressed as a miner (jeans, flannel or plaid shirt, bandana, boots, etc.). Hopefully you or your child has these items already or can borrow them. No need to go out and purchase! It’s going to be loads of fun!
AR – Students should be reading 40 minutes per night now in 3rd quarter. Our class points goal this quarter will be 36 points by March 13. Of course, students who have already exceeded this goal or are very close will set their own individual goal to reach by the end of the quarter. March 13 will also be the date for our AR Electronics Party for students meeting the class and personal goals. Let’s get to reading!
Sub – I will be out of the classroom Wed. for English Language Development training at the district. Mrs. Kawamoto will be the substitute.
Soccer Schedule – As promised, here is the Soccer Schedule: 2015 Coed Division II Schedule. The first game is Thurs 2/5 at home against the Otay Falcons. All games start at 4:00. Hope to see you there. Go, Rosebank Panthers!
Have a nice weekend! Enjoy the San Diego winter weather! 🙂 ~ Mrs. King
