Hello there, 502 families! What a busy week this has been.  There is no winding down yet.  This week we will be taking two big tests: our Math Module 3 test and our Opinion Writing Enriched Performance Task.  Thank you for all your help at home with the homework.  The students have been working hard to prepare at school and home and will do awesome!

Math Drills – have been put on hold this week due to review.  We will continue next week and finish our Multiplication.  In January we will begin Division facts drills.  The last drill you should have seen this week and signed was Review 5’s-7’s.  Keep up the hard work, Panthers!

Reader’s Theatre Performances – 2:00 pm this Wednesday! 4th graders will perform their plays for you.  All visitors please check in at the office before coming to the classroom.  The students are so excited! Hope you can drop by!

PJ Dance Party – Thank you for signing up to bring/send items for our class party this Thursday.  Confirmation slips will be sent home Monday.  I will also post here and send an email.  Reminder that students may wear pajamas to school with regular shoes, and bring their slippers for the classroom only.  Students may also bring glow sticks for dancing. We can’t wait!

Epic Fun Run – Thank you for getting your pledges and donations in either electronically or sending the envelopes!  The event will be held Friday.  Only students with signed permission slips will participate.  Please have them wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes.  It’s going to be awesome!

New Traffic Pattern – Phase 2 starts when we return in Jan.  We will have an assembly this week to inform the students of the changes.  Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this transition.

Winter Break – will be Dec. 22-Jan. 5.  Students return Tues. Jan. 6.  Correction on last week’s post: Jan. 6 will be a MODIFIED DAY with early dismissal.  I apologize for the inconvenience.

Book Jacket Project – Students will be assigned a Book Jacket Report to begin winter break.  I will speak with them Tuesday and send home the paper information as well.  Basically, it’s like a book report: students will read a chapter book over break, write a summary and their opinion about the book and illustrate.  I will also post a sample next week.  All book choices must be submitted to me by Thurs. Dec. 18.  Please return the front of the form with your child’s chapter book title and your signature or you may email me the title.  The class will go to the Library on Tuesday so they can check out their chapter books.  Happy reading!

Winter Break Homefun Packet – Packets assigned over break are always optional.  There are some students who LOVE packets and some PARENTS too, so I always want to offer that choice.  I will send the packet home Thursday.  You may preview the winter break packet cover sheet here.

As always, please contact me with any questions.  Enjoy your last week of school in 2014, my Panther friends! ~ Mrs. King 🙂
